Yes, there are plenty of villas with private pools to rent in Provence, from stone farmhouses in the Luberon to contemporary houses near Avignon. The difficulty is choosing: the area changes your whole holiday, the month decides whether the pool is actually swimmable, and prices for the same kind of house can double from one village to the next.

Which part of Provence for a villa holiday?
Provence is large, and "a villa in Provence" can mean a two-hour drive from the places you actually want to see. Four areas cover most holiday rentals:

If you want to see several places rather than one village, choose a base in the middle. From L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, the Luberon villages, Fontaine-de-Vaucluse, Avignon and the Alpilles are all within 10 to 50 minutes, so you can change your plans every day without long drives.
When to go: the months that make the difference
- April and May: green countryside, markets returning, few visitors. Air temperatures of 18 to 25 °C, but an unheated pool is still around 16 to 20 °C: too cold for most people.
- June: probably the best month. Long days, lavender starting at the end of the month, pools pleasant, prices below July.
- July and August: hot (often 33 to 38 °C), lively, the Avignon festival in July, lavender until mid-July. The highest prices, and many villas only rent Saturday to Saturday.
- September: warm sea and pools, the grape harvest, quieter roads. Excellent value.
- October: mild and sunny days, cool nights. Only a heated pool is still usable.
The heated pool question: in spring and autumn, ask for the pool temperature and the heating period in writing. "Heated" can mean a solar cover that adds a few degrees or a heat pump that holds 27 °C. Our pools are kept at 27 °C minimum from April to the end of October.
How much does a villa with a pool cost in Provence in 2026?
Prices depend on the area, the season and the number of guests. Around L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, for a house sleeping 8 with a private heated pool, this is what we observe in 2026:

Large estates sleeping 16 usually cost between €600 and €1,600 a night; in the Luberon, the big retreat and wedding estates go well beyond. On top of the rent, check for the tourist tax (a few euros per adult per night, paid to the town), the cleaning fee, a possible security deposit, and whether bed linen and towels are included.
Booking platforms add service fees of around 15 to 20%. Many owners, including us, offer the same house cheaper when you book directly on their own website.
Our checklist before you book
- The pool: private or shared? Heated, until when, at what temperature? Size and depth if you have children. In France, private pools must have an approved safety device (alarm, fence, cover or shelter).
- Air conditioning in the bedrooms, not just the living room: in July and August, nights stay warm.
- Access: how many minutes by car to a bakery, a supermarket and the nearest village? A car is essential in almost all of Provence.
- Bedrooms and bathrooms: for 8 adults, look for at least 3 bathrooms.
- What is included: linen, towels, final cleaning, WiFi, and the rules on pets and parties.
- Check-in and cancellation: arrival time, self check-in or key handover, and the refund conditions in writing.
- Reviews: read the most recent ones on Google and the platforms, including the critical ones.
Getting there and getting around
The easiest arrival is by TGV to Avignon TGV station (about 2 h 40 from Paris), then a rental car. Marseille-Provence airport is about an hour from the Luberon and from L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, and Nîmes and Montpellier airports are further west. Public transport between the villages is limited, so plan on a car for your whole stay.
